This Privacy Policy describes how Alan Daniel LLC (the "Company", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and otherwise processes personal information in connection with the Astraia mobile application, the astraia.travel website and related services (the "Service"). Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide.

Account information, such as your email address and password, or the identifier and email address (which may be a private relay address) made available by a sign-in provider you choose, such as Apple or Google.
Profile information, such as your display name, profile photo and hometown.
User Content, such as photographs you capture to scan a landmark, journal entries and their photos, notes, saved places, lists, trip details, and comments and other content you post to groups.
Communications, such as questions and messages you send to the in-app guides, and support requests, bug reports and other feedback you submit. If you use voice input, speech is converted to text by your device's operating system and we receive the resulting text.

Information collected automatically.

Precise location, with your permission, while you use location-based features of the application, such as scanning a landmark or nearby place reminders. We will request your permission before collecting location information while the application is not in use.
Usage information, such as the features you use, scans, questions, narrations and other activity within the Service, and counts of that activity used to administer plan allowances.
Device and technical information, such as device type, operating system and application version, push notification tokens, IP address, and log, diagnostic and performance data.

Information from third parties.

Purchase and subscription information from the app store through which you subscribe and from our subscription management providers, such as your plan, status, renewal and expiration dates, and transaction identifiers. We do not receive your payment card details.
Sign-in information from sign-in providers you choose to use, as described above.

The application does not contain third-party advertising and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Our website uses cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy.

2. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

provide, operate and maintain the Service, including identifying landmarks, generating content, narration and reconstructions, mapping your journey, and operating groups, trips and reminders;
process and administer subscriptions, entitlements and usage allowances;
verify scans and location-based activity, and detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse, security incidents and other harmful or unlawful activity;
improve, develop, test and analyze the Service and its features;
communicate with you, including sending service messages, notifications you have enabled, and responses to your requests;
comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims; and
for any other purpose described to you at the time of collection or with your consent.

We may create aggregated, de-identified or anonymized information that does not reasonably identify you, and may use and disclose such information for any lawful purpose.

3. How we disclose information

We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:

Service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, data storage, authentication, artificial intelligence and content processing, speech synthesis, mapping and geocoding, 3D content generation, subscription management, push notification delivery, and customer support. Service providers are permitted to use personal information only as necessary to provide services to us and are subject to contractual confidentiality and data protection obligations.
Platform and sign-in providers, such as app stores and the sign-in services you choose, as necessary to deliver the application, process purchases and authenticate you.
Other users, as directed by you. Information you share with a group, such as your display name, profile photo, activity, comments and trip participation, is visible to members of that group.
Legal and safety recipients, such as courts, regulators, law enforcement and other parties, where we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of the Company, our users or others, or to enforce our agreements.
Corporate transaction recipients, such as actual or prospective acquirers, successors, investors, lenders and their advisors, in connection with any merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of all or a portion of our assets, or transition of service to another provider. Any such recipient will be required to handle personal information consistent with this Privacy Policy with respect to information collected before the transaction.
Others with your consent or at your direction.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under applicable law.

4. Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and thereafter for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our agreements. You may delete your account at any time in the application. Upon deletion, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required or permitted by law. Residual copies may persist in backups for a limited period before being overwritten. Content you shared with others may remain visible where it was copied or retained by them.

5. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of any information. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials.

6. International processing

The Company is based in the United States, and personal information may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate, which may have data protection laws different from those of your jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

7. Your choices and rights

Device permissions. You may disable location, camera, photo library, microphone and notification access in your device settings at any time. Some features may not function without them.
Account deletion. You may delete your account and associated personal information in the application.
Privacy rights. Depending on where you reside, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and to appeal a decision regarding your request. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@astraia.travel. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and may decline requests where permitted by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
Legal bases. Where the law of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or a similar jurisdiction applies, we process personal information as necessary to perform our contract with you, based on our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the Service, to comply with legal obligations, or with your consent.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date and, where the changes are material, we will provide notice through the Service or by other reasonable means.
