Everything you need to know about Astraia, in one place.
What is Astraia?+
Astraia is a first-of-its-kind travel app that turns the places around you into something you can explore. Scan a landmark to uncover its story, experience it in 3D, meet the people behind it, and watch every discovery become part of your personal map and journey.
How does scanning work?+
Tap “Scan a Place,” point your camera at the landmark, and Astraia takes it from there. Each scan is saved to the place where you discovered it, building your map, stats, and journal into a living record of everywhere you've explored.
What places can I scan?+
Landmarks, monuments, historic buildings, ruins, bridges, statues — anything with a story behind it. Point it at something that hasn't got one and Astraia tells you so plainly instead of inventing a history for it.
Do I need an internet connection?+
For a scan, yes.
What are the guides, and how do I unlock them?+
Guides are characters who narrate a place in their own voice — a gladiator, a cowboy, a patriot. They unlock by location: scan somewhere in a guide's country and they join your roster. Astraia herself is unlocked from the start.
What is the difference between a House and a Trip?+
A House keeps you connected with friends wherever they are, so you can follow each other's travels, discoveries, and progress around the world. A Trip is for the people actually traveling together, with shared destinations, plans, and places to explore along the same journey.
Where do the itinerary, bucket list and journal live?+
Inside a trip. Start one from your House — destinations and dates — and the trip gets its own page with the itinerary, a bucket list you fill with landmarks, and a journal for everything else. Scanning works with or without a trip running.
Is my journal private?+
Yes. Journal entries and their photos are yours alone, served over short-lived links rather than public files. Scan photos are stored the same way. What you choose to share with a House is the only thing anyone else sees.
Does Astraia track me in the background?+
No. It reads your location when you scan, and while the app is open it can tell you you're standing at a place you saved. Nothing runs while the app is closed unless you switch on a nearby reminder yourself — and iOS asks you before that is possible.
Can I delete my account?+
Yes, from your profile inside the app, without writing to anyone first.
When can I download it?+
Astraia is in beta on iPhone and heading to the App Store. Write to support@astraia.travel if you'd like a place in the beta or word when it lands.
